Anchored to Jesus Eucharist

Source and summit of our Hope in the midst of the troubled waters of our existence, Christ is our anchor of salvation. If we nourish ourselves with his Body, with his Bread, we too will become bread for humanity.

The image of the anchor is suggestive for understanding the stability and security that, in the midst of the vicissitudes of life, we possess if we entrust ourselves to the Lord Jesus. The storms will never get the better of us, because we are anchored to the hope of grace that enables us to live in Christ and helps us to overcome sin, fear and death.

This hope, much greater than the satisfactions of every day and the improvements in living conditions, transports us beyond the trials and urges us to walk without losing sight of the greatness of the goal to which we are called, Heaven.

Along the path of this Jubilee, let us return to Sacred Scripture and hear these words addressed to us: “We who have sought refuge in him have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us, which we have as a sure and steadfast anchor for the soul, a hope that reaches beyond the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf” (Heb 6:18-20).

It is a strong invitation to never lose the hope that has been given to us and to hold on to it, finding refuge in God.
